Authors of the 20th Century
Right after the denouement of the Second World War the public began to believe that the world’s core rules are simple and consistent . Both global politics and social relations were depending on the ideas of progress , good change , trust in the rational , awareness , innovations , and the potential to explain any activity from a analytical point of view . However , starting from the second half of the 60’s, the world commenced to degrade and now , 40 years later , we live in a changed type of existence .
We easily mark all changes which are brought to us by new technology, but we infrequently come to realize the fact that there are certain thoughts standing behind those solutions . The nature of the expected adjustment was first tracked by those people, who more often than not lived ahead of their time – writers and authors. Among the many authors whose works have served for pleasure , there have been a few who have given the planet a new vision . They have more effectively than others other people molded and voiced authentic suggestions and have finally done a fresh intellectual and perceptual analysis of the future. They have spotted challenges in the mundane of our lives and have shed light onto a set of problems, which were going on without being noted . They have aided us to become aware of the new challenges , and sent us new aspirations .
These were the authors who have formed the minds of the entire generation, which has observed the period of cardial change; change, which was seen as anarchy at the start of the 21 first century. They have turned our attention to the most tormenting questions of the last century; those problems , which the people , having gone through the global wars and wild number of deaths, was afraid to meet . In the end they were voicing the most critical question “What will happen in the future”?
In this paper we will name some of the most prominent authors of the 20th century. They have all greatly influenced literature of their time, have offered tendencies and dilemmas which were normal to their countries and the period of time they existed in, and have made the readers think about the running set of values, having them understand that it is far away from being genuine. One of the most interesting feature of their work is that in mostly they have evoked the person’s attention in books and written works. from this angle one of the most interesting success works is that of a well known author John Cheever.
The success of Joan Rowling can be considered unique as she has become the first author in the world to make $1 billion by authoring fairytales. She is today spending a considerable part of her money on charity, battling poverty and diseases. The idea of the book was created while she was on the train from Manchester to London. When the publisher has first agreed to bring out her book, she has awarded her 1500 pounds together with a kind piece of advice — to find a stable job. He was hesitant of the idea that the young writer would be able to make a living off of writing books. Joann has demonstrated the opposite - having created a series of exceptional fairytales, she has made the so-called non-reading people get back to reading.
This paper is not able to name and more or less precisely list all authors who have provided their contribution to the today’s literature. They have been working and presenting ideas directly into the heads of the millions, and thus were influencing the future. therefore, as we can see, these authors were not writing for enjoyment only, but they were also playing a considerable part in shaping the culture and the vision of a society of the 20th century.
